'Alsen'
'Alsen' was released by NDSU in 2000. It is awned, semi-dwarf medium maturity variety with excellent lodging and satisfactory shattering resistance. 'Alsen' has high protein, good test weight and yield potential in eastern ND. Heading date and plant height is similar to Grandin. 'Alsen' is the first ND release incorporating the Sumai 3 gene for superior (Type 2) Fusarium Head Blight (scab) resistance. In trials with low scab pressure yield has been similar to Butte 86, better than 2375 but less than Forge, Ingot, Oxen, Russ and Ember.
