ND277
Inbred ND277 was derived from the synthetic breeding population, NDSK(FS)C3 via self pollination over eight generations with concurrent selection for plant stature, plant health, ear characteristics, and leaf growth rates. NDSK(FS)C3 was developed from NDSA [Cross (1980), (Crop Sci. 20:418)] using reciprocal full-sib selection using NDSB (or NDSL, a population derived from NDSB) as the tester population. NDSK(FS)C1 and NDSL(FS)C1 were released by the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station in 1987 as genetic souces for developing early-maturing inbreds.
